MTV Reality Program Licenses/broadcasts Songs From Boston-based Duo
Website: http://www.embrionic.tv/ BOSTON - Two new songs by experimental alt-rockers Embrionic, the vehicle of guitarist/studio wizard, James Bryan and Irish siren Siobhan McCauley, are currently airing on MTV’s Real World – Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet III. The season premiere of the popular program from reality TV pioneers Bunim-Murray, features “Breathe” from the band’s recent EP and “Superfantastic,” scheduled for release this summer on Embrionic’s full-length debut. A video for “Superfantastic,” directed by Bryan, is currently in post-production and slated for an early spring street-date. This exposure marks the latest event in the increasing media buzz surrounding the mysterious twosome. Two of Embrionic’s compositions, Superfantastic and Celeste, achieved inclusion on separate CMJ’s NMM (New Music Monthly) compilations, and The Boston Globe has awarded McCauley with “best unsigned artist” accolades. Additionally, the innovative band was the first ever to record and release and entire song plus accompanying video in a public forum at the CMJ Music conference. Early material from Embrionic, released on their own Black Egg Records, has also been lauded; “Pretty Flowers” reached #1 on IndependentArtistsCompany.com, and Embrionic has twice been selected as track of the day on garageband.com for cuts “Dream” and “Pretty Flowers”. All tracks are available on iTunes as is the band’s début “ep”. Embrionic, while never part of any particular scene or easily-definable genre, forge a unique brand of atmospheric, emotive rock that has elicited comparisons to a diverse litany of legends including Patti Smith, U2, Pink Floyd, Siouxie and the Banshees, and Eurythmics. Characterized by McCauley’s sensuous, seemingly limitless vocal capabilities and Bryan’s pan-cultural sonic fireworks, the duo is positioned to emerge as major players on 2008’s alt-rock landscape. Look for the full length release Embrionic in summer 2008.
