Our panel of experts will help both new and established songwriters and recording artists, and music business professionals to identify and understand legal issues they are confronted with in the music industry.

Specific hot button issues to be discussed include: 1) Timelines for incorporating key team members such as a manager, attorney, publicist or booking agent into an artist’s career and the related legal issues; 2) ownership of creative works and copyrights of songs, sound recordings, digital assets, artwork, trademarks, and fundamentals of owning intellectual property, licensing and revenue generation; 3) obtaining the right to cover a song and generate revenue from it; 4) band member agreements vs. hand-shake deals; 5) how record deals have evolved and the latest trend in deal terms; 6) fundraising for recordings and revenue streams from your assets; and 7) new issues and legislation that may affect your career and businesses.

Real life topics confronting creators, copyright owners and small business owners will be addressed. This panel will provide an overview of valuable information in operating your small business in music and touch upon the issues that every creator and copyright owner should know including selecting and forming a business entity, financing, copyrights and licensing, branding and contracts. The panelists will also address specific audience questions and concerns.

Join us for this extremely important panel and get the crucial information you need to properly run your careers and businesses.
