Xtreme Launches Latino Youth Outreach Tour In Nyc Public Schools

02-13-2007 | Band News

WOODLAND HILLS, CA , February 1, 2007-- Univision Music Group announced today that pop bachata sensation XTREME is reaching out to the Latino youth of New York City through a promotional tour that will reach over 10,000 students. In February, XTREME will be visiting a series of public high schools in New York, where they grew up, to inspire students and enforce the importance of a good education. Students will then be surprised with an impromptu performance.

Both raised by immigrant Dominican parents, Danny D, 21, was born and grew up in the Bronx, and Steve Styles, 20, was born in uptown Manhattan before moving to the Bronx. Always living both urban and Latin culture, they felt motivated to mesh the romantic beats that American Latinos were listening to with the traditional love songs of their parents’ madre patria. Created and formed in 2003, XTREME began with only Danny D at the young age of 17 because of his tremendous talent and passion for music. After countless auditions and practices, Steve Styles joined in February of 2004 to complete the duo.

As of January 29th, 2007 the single "Shorty Shorty" has been climbing the charts. It is currently #5 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay charts, #7 on Hot Latin Songs charts and #11 on the Latin Tropical Airplay charts. The single is the most added on the Latin Billboard charts. Currently, the album "Haciendo Historia" is #4 on the Billboard Tropical Charts and still climbing.
