'Conjunto Guantánamo' Announce the Second Single Off Their Forthcoming Album Out February 1st

Upcoming Album ‘Moviendo los Caracoles’ Promises to be an Impressive Collection of Blazing Hot Tracks

'Mamaita No Quiere' (out February 1st/Nganga Records) is the second single off of 'Conjunto Guantánamo’s anticipated new album, 'Moviendo los Caracoles'. This new single, 'Mamaita No Quiere' hits the ground running with an explosive energy created by this ensemble that is essentially a six man rhythm machine. From the first note, the trumpet and percussion beckon itchy feet to the dance floor with an upbeat melody that can lift any spirit. The Spanish lyrics spin the singer's narrative who can’t imagine why "Mamaíta" (Little Mama) won’t dance with him only to have him admit the ground will tremble if she does.

‘New York City's Conjunto Guantánamo… celebrates Cuban folklore as the spirit breathing life into its sound.’ – The Lowell Sun

'Conjunto Guantánamo' now has several popular releases under their belt. Their previous single, 'Cuchillo para la Piña Cubana', put out late last year, was a hit and this new track proves they don’t disappoint. Lead singer Pepito Gomez’ exquisite voice and flamenco-style guitar playing truely compliment Ittetsu Nasuda’s Lilí Martinez-inspired piano rhythms. This track has a festive and contemporary feel while staying true to the genre's nearly century-old style.
Led by its founder, Cuban percussionist Ulises Beato, the sextet features some of the finest players in traditional Afro-Cuban music today. The song was arranged by bassist Carlos Mena whose pounding syncopated bass lines provide a brazen back line to the the lively polyrhythms of Mauricio Herrera’s bongo, and Ulises’ conga drums.

The band has recently enjoyed the support of the Louis Armstrong House Museum and was recently ranked No.6 in ReverbNation’s Latin Music category. They’ve also been featured in the U.S. on WPKN, WFMU, and WVST; and Celtica Radio in the U.K.

This second single from their upcoming album gives fans yet another teaser before the April 2019 full album release. Co-produced by Ulises Beato and Pepito Gomez, 'Moviendo Los Caracoles' is a collection of some of the most beautiful and infectious Cuban songs ever written, masterfully refreshed in Carlos Mena's contemporary arrangements at Brooklyn’s Nganga Records by Conjunto Guantánamo. The album will feature 10 addicting new tracks and never a dull moment. Look for 'Moviendo Los Caracoles' wherever you get your music starting April 12th, 2019.
